US Bank Credit Cards

I still miss my Altitude Reserve (see this post), but now we have 5 Cash+ cards. These cards earn 5% cash back on two categories that you select and 2% cash back on another category. The 5% is earned on the first $2,000 spent every quarter. There’s no Annual Fee.

For me, I always choose Utilities as one of my 5% categories every quarter.

With our vacation rentals, we use a lot of electricity so it’s pretty easy to max out 2 or even 3 of the $2,000 every quarter. I keep track of my usage, and use them for other utilities including garbage collection and water.

It’s not glamorous, but 5% back is a very good value and easy to use. US Bank even sends an email every quarter reminding me to select my bonus categories.

I ended up with 5 due to a variety of product changes, and I don’t use all 5 every quarter. But the 5% and no Annual Fee make them keepers!

I’d certainly recommend getting at least one- or more- depending on your situation.
