How I track my Credit Cards
I thought I would share how I track all of the credit cards that P2 & I have. And my next post will be how I keep track of all of the associated credits. Not surprisingly, I use a spreadsheet!
Here are the headings for my spreadsheet:
When I open a new card, I enter it into the spreadsheet, along with the open date, credit limit, sign-up bonus, and the spend required. I also track whether I met the bonus requirements and if the bonus posted. I use Excel’s “Conditional Formatting” to highlight any bonuses that I have not met, and if the bonus hasn’t posted yet. I also use Conditional Formatting to highlight cards that have a renewal date soon, by assuming the Open Date is close to the renewal date.
When I close a card, I copy that line in the spreadsheet to another spreadsheet for historical purposes. It’s great to have the history, because some credit cards have limits on how often you can get the Sign-Up Bonus.
Doesn’t take much work, now that I have everything set up, and it makes tracking my credit cards pretty easy. I have a weekly Task in TickTick to remind me to take a look at that workbook weekly.
